GETTING READY FOR FALL:

This hot So Cal weather
is not the business...

Fall is all about those crunchy leaves, layered clothes, and pumpkin-flavored everything...right?

I don't know about other folks, but I sure as heck am ready for a drop in temperature and the sweaters in my closet are just begging to be worn. Of course, you can't have everything: I'll have to wait patiently like every other So Cal resident for any sign of real fall weather. In the meantime, I braved the heat and wore an outfit I thought was very appropriate for the season.

I've had this dress for several years now and it has served me a great deal of good use. For this outfit, I layered it under my new cropped, hooded sweater and put on my comfortable Skechers (click HERE to read the review I did for the wedges). I pulled the look together with a black hat and cat-eye sunglasses*.

I hope the weather is somewhat fall-like for you, wherever you are!

OPINION: SKECHERS

Let's take a little trip
down memory lane...

Remember the good ol' days when all of life's troubles consisted only of trying to color within the lines or making sure the kid behind you wouldn't cut in front of you in the lunch line? Better yet, remember running around in your awesome new Skechers sneakers during recess?

Many folks may be over the whole Skechers phase, claiming the style is a thing of the past and should only remain on the little soles of elementary school children. Stop. Right. There. The folks at Skechers have not forgotten the ever-changing fashion trends of their aging customers--they've got a whole collection of boots this fall that are sure to have your sartorial mouths drooling. The pair I'm wearing in this post, the Girl's Club-Sisterhood boots, is the ultimate summer-to-fall boot that can be worn with virtually every outfit during both seasons. You can see how easily I styled the shoes for the changing temperatures by layering different pieces of outwear either around on my waist or simply worn as it should be.

Fun fact: this particular boot is cushioned with memory foam. That's right, memory foam. So not only did the folks at Skechers keep in mind what's trendy, they also added comfort into their designs making sure each wearer is at his or her maximum level of convenience and satisfaction. Even though it's heeled, the cushion will cancel out any future worries of aching and blistered feet. I will definitely be wearing these all throughout the upcoming fall/winter season when I'm back at university!

Skechers has tons of different styles lined up so make sure you check out the rest of their collection HERE.

Rachel

3 SKIRTS, 3 DAYS:

I'm a skirt rather than jeans type of gal...

The weather has become increasingly chilly these days and living next to the beach has only amplified any form of cold in the atmosphere (ie- the air is extremely frosty and the wind is like ice on my face). Of course, it's probably not as bad as it is in the East Coast where thick, fur-lined coats and gloves are a necessity. Thus, it was only natural for me to gravitate towards my section of skirts in my ever-so-tiny dorm closet--if anyone knows me, I'm a girl who would wear skirts and dresses 24/7 rather than jeans.

As I am slowly gaining that Freshman 15 (myth/fact that claims students in college gain 15+ lbs in their first year), my jeans are becoming more tight and the struggle to pull and close them around my waist has become a battle far too exasperating to participate in, especially when I am running late for class.

With that being said, I've compiled three different looks with three of some of my favorite skirts that I have actually worn on three consecutive days (Whew! That was a mouthful). Seriously, if there is any opportunity for me not to wear jeans, I will take it. Keeping the weather in mind, I layered each skirt with toasty long-sleeves, scarves, and jackets as well as a pair of leggings and tights to preserve the heat in my legs and protect them from the wind. My mom always taught me that in order to stay warm, I should always cover up my neck, so I've been using scarves and turtlenecks to my advantage--thanks mom!

Each outfit was paired with a variety of accessories and my new boots (that still need breaking in T.T).
I hope this gives you some inspiration for future days in the fall/winter weather! Remember, you can always change up these outfits to fit your style-- add a beanie, wear flats or sneakers, add more layers, etc...

Have a great holiday season and good luck to all taking finals!
