OPINION: SPRING W/ SKECHERS (PART II)

Continuing the series with
another pair of...

...literally the most comfortable pair of sandals I've ever owned (yes I know I said that about the other one but I think these might be it for sure). This pair--Hemisphere from the Indulge collection--required no breaking-in and the cushion from Skechers' luxe foam design truly helped my feet from aching as they walked up and down my large campus. The design is quite simple, yet the black straps are placed perfectly so that my feet aren't constantly shuffling and forming blisters. These sandals also accommodated for my wide feet which I thoroughly enjoyed!

Extremely versatile and with lasting comfort, I'd give this pair an A! Hop on over to skechers.com to shop for your own pair, Click HERE to see Part I of my series with Skechers.

OPINION: SPRING W/ SKECHERS (PART 1)

When comfort meets style...

I've had the awesome pleasure of working with Skechers last year for their fall collection (check out the article HERE). I'm back with the team again with a feature on the new Cali spring collection and can I just say that these sandals are quite possible the most comfortable shoes I've ever placed my feet in?

The pair I'm wearing in this post is the Sweet Tooth design from the Indulge collection. Not only does it match well with almost any outfit you'd style for the spring, but it also provides a lasting comfort that doesn't require any breaking in. The luxe foam padding truly makes for its great quality and I was greatly pleased that the sandals offer such luxury (especially if I plan on wearing them around all day).

Skechers definitely does not disappoint! Check out the collection online HERE and stay tuned for Part II of this series featuring another equally comfortable and stylish pair of sandals!

ONE SHORT DAY:

In the emerald city...

For those who didn't get the reference, I quoted the title of this blog post after the title of a number in the musical Wicked. I just had to pay homage to this amazing production which I had the privilege to attend last week after about, oh I don't know, 7 years of waiting? My obsession with this musical began after my best friend went to watch it in 7th grade and from the moment she came back telling me all about how wonderful Wicked was, I began memorizing lyrics to songs and performing a one-woman act in front of the mirror in the hopes that I would one day watch it with my own two eyes--and that day has finally happened. Can I just say: God has given an insane amount of musical talent to some people and I would highly recommend attending a musical (even if it's not Wicked) to just appreciate the powerful voices and entertaining acting these folks have to offer?

Anyway, here's the outfit I wore to the event! I wore a star spangled shirt paired with distressed black denim jeans and my new ASOS boots! To add more structure, I layered a grey fitted peacoat I received as a hand-me-down over the outfit--isn't the little bow in the back the cutest? My bangs have started to grow out, so I just swept them over to the side (with the help of some wind) and held a cup of coffee (that was actually my friend's) as the finishing touch.

This is not a sponsored blog post but WICKED WAS AMAZING and I would definitely watch it again if I get the chance.

I'll see you in my next post!

BEST DRESS EVER:

That moment when the perfect dress
becomes a beautiful addition to your closet...

Alright, alright so maybe I'm being a little bit dramatic...

But let me tell you something: it was fate, the meeting between this dress and me. I had recently been on the search for a well-fitting denim-like dress and lo and behold, one appeared right before my eyes. Well, actually my mom laid eyes on it first and told me to try it on. Fit. Like. A. Glove.

It's actually quite difficult to find dresses that are the right length for me without it being too loose or too inappropriately short. So when this particular dress entered into my life, I had to say it was fate. Ending right above my knees, this article of clothing falls perfectly and is comfortable enough to spend a day shifting up and down and occasionally semi-squatting to take photos of my lovely friends (these were taken at Balboa Park in case you were wondering!).

Currently, this is my #1 favorite dress (as you can probably tell) and with its versatile style, I cannot wait to wear it in different looks for various occasions.

What's your favorite look/article of clothing right now? Let me know all about it in the comments below!

OPINION: MINT JULEP BOUTIQUE + GIVEAWAY

Keepin' it casual
this time around...

By now many of you know that I am not one to squeeze into a pair of jeans everyday. Dresses and skirts are definitely my go-to clothing of choice, but on the rare occasion that I do wear some denim, I like to keep the rest of my outfit very comfortable.

Take this look for example: I paired my favorite pair of skinny jeans (high-waisted for the illusion of longer, leaner legs) with a simple white t-shirt and this unique fringed cardigan I received from The Mint Julep Boutique

What I love most about this combination is its simplicity! I really didn't have to think too hard to make the look as good it does here. The geometric print and subtle gold details on the cardigan, in addition to the cute fringed edges, create more dimension and movement while the fitted t-shirt and jeans keep the look pulled together. Also, doesn't everything just look so warm and cozy??

BACK AT IT:

Did you miss me?

Woohoo! I am back on The Rachel Story!

It's been quite an intense quarter at school so far and the thought of posting on my blog was honestly the last thing on my mind. However, I didn't want to neglect something I actually enjoyed doing (plus writing an entry is a bit of a stress reliever). I have been busy, but I'm still so thankful to God for the many things He's blessed me with. So, here I am with another OOTD post that my lovely friends help me shoot.

The weather is finally cooling down and despite the harshness of the sun, I can still wear my fall/winter clothing like my trusty ol' Dr. Martens boots and this lacy black dress I've been saving all summer. This dress was actually bought on sale for less than $15...The Rachel Story strikes again!

How have you been styling your outfits for this season? Any style steals?

I GOT IT FROM MY MAMMA:

Just kiddin'
I got it from the thrift store...

It's high-waisted. It's comfy. It's everything your mom would have worn in her prime days. It's...the mom jean.

So what's so special about this fine piece of fabric that simultaneously creates the illusion of longer legs while making some people cringe? Personally, I have two reasons why I'm currently loving this trend: one, because it's a refreshing change from the skinnies and boyfriend jeans that many people wear and two, because I copped this from the thrift store for SEVEN DOLLARS. Am I a crazy good shopper or am I a crazy good shopper?

I love the fashion industry for its tendencies to recycle trends. I'm so glad that this particular style is "in" because I truly am a sucker for comfort (especially since I am not one to sport jeans all the time).
