MODELMANIA:

What's fashion
without its models?

Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss. Anyone familiar with the fashion world can, without a doubt, attribute these names to four amazing models of their era. Of course, these four women are only a few of the many influential bodies that moved with great force and prestige during fashion weeks (and let's not forget those editorials either). Some of my personal favorites from both the 90's supermodel era and the more recent pool of runway must-haves include: Devon Aoki, Beverly Peele, Gemma Ward, Kelly Mittendorf, Christy Turlington, Malaika Firth, Daphne Groeneveld, and honestly the list can go on and on...

But lets get into the outfit shall we?

I paired this awesome supermodel tank with my new floral "kimono" (still not sure about the use of the word kimono, but we'll go with it for now). Since the fall weather is slowly approaching--emphasis on the slow--I decided to bring on the jeans and wore this distressed black pair I recently bought on sale at Cotton On. I accessorized a bit with an amethyst necklace, gold hoops, and heeled sandals to lean out my legs and give me that extra height.

NYFW IN LA?

What would you have worn to New York's
biggest fashion event of the year?

I think this outfit would suffice!

One of the top items on my bucket list is a visit to New York Fashion Week (in addition to fashion weeks in Milan, Paris, London, etc). However, since I'm currently a college student on a budget, I decided to bring fashion week to Los Angeles!

Fashion week is about bringing your A-game when it comes to personal style. Bloggers, editors and models alike all dress to impress and go against whats conventional in order to show off what they enjoy wearing to the myriad of street style photographers wandering around in hopes of getting a perfect shot.

I chose to wear this ensemble in honor of NYFW and wore a bright pop of hot pink to make it even more eye-catching. I paired it with a denim-like jacket worn over the shoulder (very fashion blogger-esque, no?) and a cropped tank to really allow the pink skirt to play the leading role. To accessorize, I added hints of gold through my necklace, studded boots and watch. I also balanced out the femininity of the outfit with a black beanie.

With my phone in hand and eyes peeled for the latest trend, don't I look fashion week appropriate?

BLUE HAIR DON'T CARE:

3 hours of bleaching, 2 hours of coloring,
and 1 hour of anticipating later...

I did it! I finally did something to my jet black, untouched hair!

With the help of my kind and very patient bestie Hannah, I was able to commit and try out some color in my hair by adding a few streaks of blue. And let me tell you something--it was a mission. From researching on various platforms such as YouTube and good ol' Google to waiting what seemed like a century for my dark hair to fade blonde, I have to say changing even just a bundle of hair is a pretty serious and difficult task (or maybe for me at least).

But, I am so glad I finally changed up my hair game! I think it adds some personality to the otherwise dull set of hair I have, especially since I'm often lazy when it comes to styling it. Plus, it'll be an interesting, yet fun adventure thinking of ways to play up outfits to go along with the blue.

Who knows? Maybe next time I'll go for hot pink...or maybe purple...

BLACK SUMMER

Black Summer

The weather here in SoCal is seriously turning bipolar. Just last week, temperatures reached into the 90s, yet the winds have kicked in for an unprecedented chill for the past couple days. What's up with that? Summer is right at our heels and the sun barely manages to keep us warm and sustaining our "California" tan...

So, I've created this outfit set that manages to fit in to the cool, yet somehow sunny weather. This predominately black style allows the such as neon yellow and pastel pink to pop. Plus, the cropped top and the high-waisted skirt flaunts your curves (that may or may not be there; in my case: NOT). The flatforms keep you an inch or two off the ground and the clear-framed sunnies pull the entire ensemble together.
All in all, this look is very easy to pull off even in cooler weathers. Just throw on a black or even white cardigan if you can't embrace the lower temperatures or add on some black tights.
Happy summer waiting!

Yours truly,

Rachel

BLUE HUES

The weather here in SoCal has been so good to me so far this week. It's cold enough so that I can wear simply a dress and sweater paired with some sneakers and not feel as if my body is going to freeze to death. It also doesn't get so hot that functioning is impossible. The weather is quite...perfect. Which, aside from the stereotypes of Californian weather, is a big surprise especially during the winter season.
On another very different note, I am so, SO glad that I am finally a 2nd-semester SENIOR! I can feel senioritis slowly creeping up on me. But that's ok, since college acceptance letters are coming soon...along with my trip to China this spring! More on that trip later though...
