FROM WHITE SANDS TO TUCSON
A pop of color here, a pop of color there, and my recent trip to the Southwest is a success! While I opted for a rather colorful number in New Mexico (shoutout to my freshly purchased rainbow palazzo pants), my rather simple outfit in Arizona created a nice complement to all the vibrant backdrops of old town Tucson. Overall, I'd say I did a pretty darn good job packing for this short trip...what do you think?

NEW YORK OUTFIT DIARY
I'm back in San Diego and boy oh boy do I miss wearing the outfits I sported on my vacation in New York. Believe me, I'm a summer baby by heart but something about the cold weather gets me so excited to go out and show off the 'fit I planned (most likely) the night before.
Here's a little visual outfit diary I curated over the 8 days I stayed in New York. I basically wore the same three jackets the entire time (couldn't fit anymore in my luggage c'mon now) but I had so much fun mix-and-matching items and I also picked up some other clothes while in New York to spice up my travel wardrobe.
*Shoutout to all the thrift stores in Brooklyn, ya'll changed my life*
Stay tuned for more NY-related posts coming at ya soon!
Ta-ta for now,

SUZIE'S FARM (an ootd)
A couple of weeks ago my friends (Ophelia, Ashley, Annie, Sini) and I visited Suzie's Farm to pick some beautifully grown sunflowers c/o the large influx of rain we've had here in Southern California. Armed with a couple of scissors and lots of cameras, we drove down near the border to start our adventure...
Beyond the fact that Ophs lost her sunglasses among the hustle-n-bustle and my exposed legs got wrecked by the stinging leaves scattered amidst the flowers, we had quite the fabulous outing. Having a group full of photographers whose aesthetics are ~ON POINT~ also made it very fun for us as we probably spent more time taking photos for each other than actually picking flowers (needless to say, we each got a photo worthy of ~le Instagram~).
Overall, it was a wonderful Saturday well spent before the tide of studying and endless work hours hit us full speed the following week. If you're a local or even just visiting, make sure you schedule in a trip to this place! It's well worth the $$ and the memories!
Below is the look I sported on the day of. I needed a new profile picture which is the reason I seem so dressed up for the farm environment but, hey, at least the photos came out gewd~

NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY (LOOK TWO)
As promised here is LOOK TWO of my mini lookbook series! This outfit is for those in colder areas and aren't looking to rage in the new year (although, hey, I ain't stopping ya). I love the teddy bear fabric (also is it just me or is that fact that it's called teddy bear kind of creepy) on this coat because it adds such subtle and unique personality to the overall look. I decided to keep it more neutral and wore a nude long sleeve underneath the coat. To keep party vibes going I slipped on my new heels and accessorized with a classic fedora, geometric choker, and Casio watch. I added a pop of color on my lips and babam! NYE LOOK TWO complete!
Be sure to check out LOOK ONE as well :)

NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY (LOOK ONE)
The new year is just around the corner which means it's time for you to get the party started! Lucky for you, I've got a couple looks that you can use as inspiration for your own NYE's outfit. For both LOOK ONE and LOOK TWO of this mini lookbook, I'm wearing very comfy, yet stylish outfits that will last you all through the night. What's also great about these looks is that they can be dressed up or worn more casually so you're not limited in how you can transform each statement piece (great bang for your buck if ya ask me).
For LOOK ONE, I chose to go for a more vampy style by wearing all black with the exception of the burgundy/maroon leather vest. I layered a slip dress over a long sleeve to keep myself warm and tied the look together by sporting a pair of long boots (c/o my momma). For my hair, I tied the front into a mini ponytail and wore a personalized necklace my grandma had sent from Korea a few years back.

OUTTAKES: TOPSHOP x CF
This month I was given a wonderful opportunity to participate in my internship CollegeFashionista's collaboration with Topshop for their holiday capsule collection. From fancy parties to hometown reunion's, each outfit was curated and styled by a handful of Style Guru's/Editors to give readers some inspiration for their own party look.
I had lots of photos left that weren't published with the article so I decided to post a few on my blog! Be sure to click HERE to read the full piece (and check out all the other cool outfits).

GO WITH THE FLOW
I never considered myself to be a "go with a flow" type of person because: (a) I absolutely need structure in all aspects of my life and (b) anything spontaneous gives me anxiety. Despite my natural tendencies to plan everything out, I decided that this school year needed a bit more randomness and a laid back attitude (mind you, I'm excluding academics/job responsibilities from this mentality!).
If you read my last blog post, you'd know that a bit of last-minute decision making makes for some excellent photo sessions. Preparing myself to visit the Noguchi Garden needed special attention to my outfit. Thus, I decided to channel the vibes of the minimalist and monochromatic design of the garden into my look.
I've been loving the crap out of these long, flowy flared pants ever since I purchased them earlier this year. It goes well with so many different pieces and occasions. To balance the flow, I wore a tight, velvet cropped top and and put on this lightly acid-washed outwear I found at a thrift store to add some more character. Finishing off with a pair of black sandals and minimal accessories, this outfit matched perfectly with the setting and it definitely contrasted well against the lighter background.
What's one thing you're willing to let go with the flow? Whether it's something on your schedule or an idea in need of creative direction, try letting yourself be less anxious about it and you'd be surprised how some of the stress disappears...
Rock on,
Rachel
