Let's take a little trip

down memory lane...

Remember the good ol' days when all of life's troubles consisted only of trying to color within the lines or making sure the kid behind you wouldn't cut in front of you in the lunch line? Better yet, remember running around in your awesome new Skechers sneakers during recess? 

Many folks may be over the whole Skechers phase, claiming the style is a thing of the past and should only remain on the little soles of elementary school children. Stop. Right. There. The folks at Skechers have not forgotten the ever-changing fashion trends of their aging customers--they've got a whole collection of boots this fall that are sure to have your sartorial mouths drooling. The pair I'm wearing in this post, the Girl's Club-Sisterhood boots, is the ultimate summer-to-fall boot that can be worn with virtually every outfit during both seasons.You can see how easily I styled the shoes for the changing temperatures by layering different pieces of outwear either around on my waist or simply worn as it should be.

Fun fact: this particular boot is cushioned with memory foam. That's right, memory foam. So not only did the folks at Skechers keep in mind what's trendy, they also added comfort into their designs making sure each wearer is at his or her maximum level of convenience and satisfaction. Even though it's heeled, the cushion will cancel out any future worries of aching and blistered feet. I will definitely be wearing these all throughout the upcoming fall/winter season when I'm back at university!

BLUE HAIR DON'T CARE:

3 hours of bleaching, 2 hours of coloring,
and 1 hour of anticipating later...

I did it! I finally did something to my jet black, untouched hair!

With the help of my kind and very patient bestie Hannah, I was able to commit and try out some color in my hair by adding a few streaks of blue. And let me tell you something--it was a mission. From researching on various platforms such as YouTube and good ol' Google to waiting what seemed like a century for my dark hair to fade blonde, I have to say changing even just a bundle of hair is a pretty serious and difficult task (or maybe for me at least).

But, I am so glad I finally changed up my hair game! I think it adds some personality to the otherwise dull set of hair I have, especially since I'm often lazy when it comes to styling it. Plus, it'll be an interesting, yet fun adventure thinking of ways to play up outfits to go along with the blue.

Who knows? Maybe next time I'll go for hot pink...or maybe purple...

OPINION: MIKUKUMI

Cute earrings are 

worth blogging about...

Whenever I want to add a little spice to my outfit, I always gravitate toward accessorizing with jewelry. Whether it be my necklaces or rings, I make sure that all the details complement my overall look. So, when I received these lovely earrings from Michelle, creator and designer of Mikukumi, I knew they would make the perfect finishing touches to my future outfits.

"Be inspired and do what you love," are the words that Michelle used to start her company. Her desire to enrich her life as well as the lives of others brought her to create Mikukumi--a fashion accessory business that focuses on creating cute and fashionable handmade fabric button earrings and hairpins. Michelle's current favorite pair of earrings is the turquoise, brass anchor ones that you can purchase for yourself on her webpage!

Mikukumi has a variety of designs to choose from and whatever your personal style, there is definitely a pair fit just for you. THE OMBRE WAY:

The ombre trend 

is here to stay...

While most gals are fond of expressing the ombre trend by dyeing their hair, I decided to go on a simpler route by wearing it! This beautiful blue skirt, which was gifted by my grandma in Korea (a lot of my featured clothing items on this blog actually come from her!), just screams summer and I thought it was appropriate to wear on a lovely day out with my girlfriends.

I paired this skirt with a more subtle black tank and a few delicate pieces of jewelry. The lack of print in this outfit kept the focus on the blue skirt--the ombre definitely stood out against the monochromatic color scheme as well.

LEATHER WEATHER:

A little bit of this, 
a little bit of that...

The weather here in SoCal is getting hot, hot, hot! But it's definitely not stopping me from sporting one of my favorite outwear pieces--this faux leather vest. The simple details of this particular vest, such as the cut of the collar and side zipper, can complement virtually any outfit. The pockets and lack of sleeves are definitely a plus, especially in the hot summer season.

I balanced the masculinity of the vest with the floral dress and accessorized with hoop earrings, a tiny necklace, watch and sun hat! The sandals I bought at Target (for a whoppin' $5!) tied the whole ensemble together quite nicely.

CAPED CRUSADER:

Who portrays Batman the best: Michael Keaton, 

Christian Bale, (soon to be Ben Affleck), or me?

If you ever asked me who my favorite superhero was, Batman would hands down be my first and only choice. Not only is he exceptionally skilled in martial arts, he is also a witty, cunning and willing to make meets end through any way necessary. But let's not make this about how awesome Batman is and let's get into the outfit...

I would have to say the main star of this ensemble is the beautiful shawl that was gifted to me on my recent birthday by two of my favorite people. It's the perfect length and the deep blue color complements the rest of the outfit. The pattern and slits near the bottom of the shawl add perfect accents to the overall piece. Plus, I can run around and this outwear instantly doubles as a cape...hence, the title of this particular blog post. 

I completed the look with my thrifted overalls (worn in THIS post) and since it was blazing hot--I actually got sunburned that day--I kept it simple with a grey cami and my new BCBG studded sandals. To make this look more unique, I put my hair up into two buns and added a couple accessories like my 90's choker, tribal earrings, and Casio watch.

OPINION: BOUTON BRACELETS

What's not to love about personalized jewelry?

OK, how cute is this packaging??

A couple weeks ago, I received an email from Breanne, one of the co-founders of Bouton Bracelets, asking if I'd like to review one of her products. After checking out her store on Etsy, I had to reply with a yes! 

Combining the latest trends in fashion jewelry with personal tastes, Bouton Bracelets allows you to mix-and-match different buttons and charms to create the ultimate statement piece. Breanne and her husband, Logan, started their accessory line with the help of her background in the fashion industry, as well as the creative efforts of Logan (an artist by trade for the last fifteen years!). They go by the motto, "Inspired By Life," and incorporate it into everything they do including: working with charities and donating 10% of all proceeds to non-profit organizations. When asked about her personal favorite in the collection, she told me the starter kit was a must have! 

I was so excited when I received this particular bracelet in the mail: both Breanne and I love turquoise! I think the color of the band complements the color of the stone very well. The band itself is not too thick and I find it so appealing how each button can be switched around (and more can be purchased online!). With the adjustable straps and cute, yet personal packaging, what's not to love about Bouton Bracelets? It's definitely something that I will be sporting often during this summer season.
